Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washinton braced for stormy weather Sunday evening along the coast. The strongest storm of the season thus far making landfall Sunday evening.
The National Weather Service issuing a flood watch in effect through Tuesday morning, a high wind warning in effect through 4pm today and a high surf advisory in efffect till midnight tonight.
Flooding affecting HWY 101 south of Seaside closing traffic in both directions Monday morning. No cars are being allowed through the area but they are allowing trucks restricted to 5 miles per hour. Additionally North of Gearhart a tree was reportedly blocking traffic in both directions that has now been cleared.

Semi toppled on Megler Bridge:
The storm packed heavy rains and high winds for the coastal regions. Coast Guard station Cape Disappointment recorded wind gusts as high as 63mph around 5am this morning and gusts in Astoria recorded around 59mph. Elsewhere on the Oregon coast overnight a 98mph wind gust was recorded at Yaquina Head near Newport. Some of the highest winds were expected to hit the coast between 8am and 10am. The storm is forecasted to stall over Northwest Oregon.
Power was briefly knocked out in Seaside overnight when the wind took out a transformer box. Astoria has recieved almost an inch of rain from midnight till 8am. Rains are expected to continue into Wednesday and lighter rains expected into Thanksgiving.
Due to the hazardous conditions the coast guard preemptively closing the Tillamook Bay, Umpqua River, Columbia River, and Depoe Bay bars. For more on the bar closures click here.
With already saturated conditions crews are expecting to see some power lines come down along the coast. One storm related death has been reported when an elk hunter died from a falling tree near Nahalem.
