Tuesday night foodies will fill the Seaside Convention Center for the fifth annual "Iron Chef Goes Coastal" event, a fundraiser for the Clatsop County United Way organization.  Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.  The popular contest pits local chefs and their teams against each other to prove which chef's cuisine reigns supreme  The chefs will have to use all their creativity to present dishes prepared using a secret ingredient as a central theme.  The main ingredient is revealed just be fore the competition begins and chefs will have just one hour to prepare and plate multiple courses for the panel of guest judges to taste.  Judges will make their decision based on best use of the theme ingredient, presentation, and of course, taste.

The audience will get to watch the chefs working in two competition kitchens set up on the convention center floor while sampling tasting dishes prepared by 17 other area restaurant chefs set up at stations around the floor. At 6pm attendees will have the chance to sample a deserts prepared by local pastry chefs. Audience members will have the chance to vote for their favorite in a people choice competition.

The proceeds for Iron Chef goes coastal benefit Clatsop County United Way and the local agencies they assist with funding each year. The competition takes it's name from the American version of a hit Japanese TV cooking competition called "Iron Chef" in America.  The show produced several top chefs who went on to International acclaim opening restaurants throughout the world.
