Long-time Astoria ward 2 City Councillor Peter Roscoe lost his seat in Tuesday's election as voters prefered challenger Drew Herzig putting the folk dance instructor and gay rights activist on a council that has stressed a "teamwork" approach to decision making. Herzig has said that teamwork comes second and "the people" come first stressing the importance of opening council decision-making to more public discussion and promising to hold "listening sessions" with Astorians to give anyone the opportunity to express concerns or bring ideas forward. Roscoe stressed his support of the current council framework and often talked at council meetings about his involvement with commercial fishing issues locally and statewide.
Meanwhile in Warrenton voters sent a strong message to their city commission that the city charter be changed so that voters would have say in electing a Mayor for the city. Currentlt the Mayor is selected among the city commissioners by a vote of the commission. Henry Ballensifer won his election battle with Roble Anderson and will take a seat on the Warrenton commission come Janaury and Mark Kujala with 69.5% won re-election over challenger Merianne Myers. Tom Dyer won his race to sit on the Warrenton city commission.

Tom Bergin won re-election to the Sheriff's job defeating a strong challenge by OSP Trooper Jim Pierce. Debby Boone retains her Oregon House seat for District 32 as does Brad Witt in House District 31.
