Clatsop Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Forrest Koch, CPA, as the facilitator for its Small Business Management Program. Mr. Koch has extensive financial and business management experience. His specialties include analysis, problem-solving, decision-making, working in teams, and developing accurate financial forecasts. His experience also includes an emphasis in strategic organizational planning.
Koch has owned or been a senior executive with several companies including the Omega Group, Inc. (CEO, President and Founder), that was named the 38th fastest growing business in Oregon for 2003 by the Portland Business Journal, and achieved the distinction of SAP top 5 resellers in North America for four years in a row as of the end of 2007. (SAP is a market and technology leader in business management software, solutions and services.) Mr. Koch is currently the principal in J. Forrest Koch, CPA, LLC, a local Gearhart-based CPA firm focused on providing services to small business.
The Clatsop Community College Small Business Management Program has been part of Clatsop Community College for over 25 years. The program is part of the College's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) that provides no-cost CONFIDENTIAL business consulting, training sessions and business information referrals. Dick Powell, lead business advisor for the CCC Small Business Development Center will be engaged in all elements of the program.
The Small Business Management Program is a structured nine month program that includes interactive classroom learning for three hours, one evening per month; one-on-one confidential business advising for two hours per month; business tools, access to experts, and opportunities to exchange ideas and experiences with other small business owners.
Kevin Leahy, Executive Director of CEDR and the CCC SBDC, will oversee the Program, and also participate with Mr. Koch and Mr. Powell in the course instruction and counseling. Combined, there is over 100 years of business experience and expertise with the three Small Business Management Program facilitators.
The cost of the SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM is $595 for the year, or an average of just $12.00 an hour to have all the tools, including their own personal business advisor. Business owners make an investment in themselves to learn how to work on their business rather than in their business, and learn the business skills that help balance work and life.
Owners of existing businesses who have a desire to succeed, have the skill to deliver a great product or service, need help with managing their business, and feel like their business is running their life are prime candidates for the program.
To register for the Program, or for further details, contact Kevin Leahy at 503-338-2342 or email at
