Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Clatsop County Medical Examiner, are continuing the investigation into the cause of death of an adult male found deceased Thursday evening in a van parked on the beach approximately a half mile north of the Del Ray Beach access north of Gearhart. There is no evidence the man's death is the result of a crime.

According to Trooper Dennis Thomas, on October 11, 2012 at 6:54 p.m., a couple walking along the beach north of Del Ray Beach access road saw a van parked on the beach that they had seen during the last two days at the same location. The couple approached the van and saw a deceased adult male inside with an actively burning Coleman stove.

The man was identified as BRIAN PATRICK CARD, age 57. CARD has a last known address in northeast Portland.

Officers from Gearhart Police Department and OSP responded to the scene with Gearhart Fire Department personnel.
