ADHDA Asks City To Pitch In On Revitalization Plan

The Astoria City Council will consider a request from a downtown business organization to contribute $7500.00 toward the $20,000.00 cost of hiring a popular urban strategist to conduct an indepth analysis of Astoria's downtown.

In May of this year Michelle Reeves, who is considered a well-respected downtown revitalization professional, gave a well-attended talk focused on successful revitalization techniques that caught the attention of property owners and business owners.  Accrding to a city staff memo that talk sparked interest in hiring Reeves to provide more specific recomendations on a new vision for the downtown area.  Staff is recommeding the council support the request from the Astoria Downtown Historic District.

The council meeting is at 7:00pm in the council chamber on the second floor of city hall.  The meeting is open to the public.
