Registered sex offender Michael William Dahl was arrested Thursday night after a Oregon State trooper saw him attemping to break into a car in Hammond.  The trooper was responding to a report of an appearently intoxicated man stumbing into the roadway

and reports when he arrived at the Pacific Drive address he saw Dahl trespass onto the victim;s property and attempt to gain access to the vehicle.  He was arrested at that point and a background check indicated Dahl had failed to register a change of address which is a requirement of anyone on the sex offender list. Dahl was lodged in the Clatsop County jail on charges involved his abortive attempt to break into the vehicle, criminal trespass and failure to register as a sex offender by not providing change of address.
