The Astoria School Foundation is announcing an Educator Innovation Grant opportunity.  The Educator Innovation Grant is open to all educators employed within the Astoria School District.  There will be four grants awarded with each totaling $300.

The Astoria School Foundation’s primary purpose is to enhance the educational experience of students in the Astoria School District 1C through public education and financial support.  This is the second round of Educator Innovation Grant opportunities.  Grant applications and more information about this grant opportunity can be found on the Astoria School District web page at http://www.astoria.k12.or.us/.  Completed grant applications must be emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. During the 2011-2012 school year the Astoria School Foundation awarded four $250.00 Educator Innovative grants to local teachers.  Recipients of the Educator Innovative grants included:

  • Kelly Clay – Astor Elementary Special Education Teacher – Purchase of an Ipod Touch for video modeling for special education teachers
  • Alexa Haller – Lewis and Clark Elementary 4th Grade Teacher – Field trip scholarships for 4th grade students to attend the annual Central Oregon field trip
  • Taeryn Robbins – Astoria Middle School Math Teacher – Training and supplies for a middle school math peer tutoring program
  • Jenni Newton – Astoria High School Senior Transition Teacher – Funded a field trip for seniors at Astoria High School to introduce seniors to sustainable agriculture in the Astoria community

The Astoria School Foundation continues to work to broaden the educational opportunities for all students in the Astoria School District.
