SETD Joins Oregon's Electric Highway Print Email Sunset Empire Transportation District is announcing the opening of a new Electric Vehicle Charging Station at the SETD Transit Center in Astoria. The new electric charging station is located in the parking area on the northeast side of the transit center. The charging station offers a “DC fast charger” capable of charging a depleted battery in 30 minutes or a “medium speed charger” that will take from two to four hours to complete a charge. The Astoria charging station is one of 22 charging stations planned as part of the Electric Highway Project in rural Oregon. The project is funded through the U.S. Department of Transportation and is being managed by the Oregon Department of Transportation. AeroVironment is the prime contractor responsible for installing and maintaining the charging station equipment. Several other sites were evaluated in Astoria prior to the selection of the Transit Center. There will be a Grand Opening for the charging station on September 12, 2012 at 12 noon, at the SETD Transit Center, 900 Marine Drive in Astoria. The public is welcome to attend.
