The City of Astoria announced that in order to be responsive to the facilities and parks needs of the City, the Parks Maintenance Department will undergo an overhaul and re-alignment of positions and jobs.  At present the City employs two full time Parks Maintainers and a Senior Parks Maintainer.  These positions are being eliminated effective September 1st.  The three employees who hold these positions have been told that each will be laid off, and each will be free to apply for employment in any of the new job classifications as they consider themselves qualified. The two new positions will be a Grounds Coordinator and a Facilities Coordinator. The City will be seeking applications and hiring based on a competitive process for these two new positions.
