County/Warrenton to discuss business park this week

Light industry is one of the focuses of phase two of development of the county's north coast business park in Warrenton.  The county commission meets with the Warrenton city commission this Wednesday during a public worksession according to county manager Duane Cole.  Ensign Avenue may be extended to open up the park and be done by 2012 if not sooner.  Wetland delineation needs to be updated to allow any new development.   The two commissions will discuss what uses may be considered and where they would be located.  If a new jail is sited at the business park, it would complement the transition center and animal shelter already in the area.  Cole says a conversation needs to be held regarding where the jail should be located and a possible bond issue for a new jail, although he doesn't rule out previous consideration of renovating the old jail in downtown Astoria.
